The Iconic Carefree Sundial
Built back in 1959
The Carefree Sundial, the largest in North America, stands as a remarkable piece of public art and engineering. Stretching 62 feet in length and towering 35 feet above the ground, it was commissioned by K.T. Palmer, one of Carefree's founders, and designed by solar engineer Dr. John Yellott and architect Joe Wong. The sundial’s metal gnomon (the shadow-casting arm) points directly to the North Star, adding a celestial touch to its design. A must-see landmark in Carefree, the sundial not only serves as a functional timepiece but also as a striking tribute to the town's artistic and innovative spirit.
Kiwanis Splash Pad
The Kiwanis Splash Pad is home to Kiwani the Scorpion. This charming spot is perfect for cooling off during the hot Arizona months and enjoying a fun, family-friendly outing in the heart of Carefree.

Carefree Playground
The Carefree Playground features a classic play area with monkey bars, climbing structures, and crawl spaces—but what truly makes it special is the Gila monster slide! Nearby, you’ll also find a little free library with books for all ages.
